Broadband and mobile services provider Spectrum and Los Angeles-based esports organization NRG Esports announced Friday a continuation and expansion of its existing relationship with a new, multi-year partnership.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of this extended and expanded deal, NRG will work with Spectrum to create what it calls “innovative gaming experiences and content for fans across the United States,” and continue its naming rights deal with its homebase, the NRG Spectrum Castle in Los Angeles, for an additional three years. In addition, Spectrum has been named the exclusive TV, internet, and mobile provider for NRG.
Also part of the deal, Spectrum and NRG are introducing “Storm the Castle,” an event series that will turn the NRG Spectrum Castle into a “fantasy factory of extraordinary gaming and entertainment experiences,” beginning with an inaugural event Oct. 25-26 (this weekend), featuring a Minecraft-themed haunted house and an exclusive musical performance by West Coast rapper KYLE. NRG will open the Castle doors on Oct. 26 to the public to experience the Minecraft Haunted House for free (more details on that can be found here).
“What we’re creating isn’t just a sponsorship; it’s a revolution in how fans experience gaming and esports through Spectrum, the best Internet and WiFi choice for gamers,” said NRG Head of Sales and Brand Partnerships, Brandon Tortora. “The NRG Spectrum Castle will be more than a headquarters – it will be a must-visit destination for gamers. And with our Gaming Tour of America, we’re taking that magic on the road, interacting with fans and creating joyful moments in communities across the nation.”
Spectrum will also sponsor NRG’s casual gaming content creation group Full Squad Gaming as it embarks on a “Gaming Tour of America.” The tour will offer live activations, local influencer partnerships, and viral content creation” to promote the Spectrum suite of services in the United States. More details on that tour are to be announced.
NRG currently operates professional esports teams in Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, Counter-Strike 2, PUBG Mobile, and Apex Legends. Spectrum is one of several partners of the organization, alongside Carvana, Intel, U.S. Army National Guard, AMD, DXRACER, Bud Light, Rockstar Energy Drink, Republic of Gamers (ROG), Samsung Galaxy, YoungLA, Hot Pockets, and Panda Express.
