International esports tournament company PGL announced Monday that it will host new Dota 2 competitive seasons in Wallachia, Romania, in 2025 and 2026.
The inaugural season (PGL DOTA 2 Wallachia Season #1) took place from May 10-19, and was followed by Season #2 from Oct. 4-13, 2024. Season #2 concluded over the weekend, with Heroic beating Team Falcons 3-1 in the Grand Final, and taking home the top prize of $300K USD.
Satisfied with the results, PGL plans to continue the Wallachia series in 2025 three tournaments:
PGL DOTA 2 Wallachia Season #3
- Tournament Dates: March 8-16, 2025
- Qualifiers: Jan. 5-12, 2025
PGL DOTA 2 Wallachia Season #4
- Tournament Dates: April 19-27, 2025
- Qualifiers: Feb. 1-8, 2025
PGL DOTA 2 Wallachia Season #5
- Tournament Dates: Nov. 15-23, 2025
- Qualifiers: Sept. 21-28, 2025
PGL said in its announcement that each tournament will feature 16 participating teams–10 invited and six teams earning sports from qualifiers. Each competition will feature a total prize pool of $1M, and PGL will provide what it calls hospitality support for participating organizations of $450K (per each event). Hospitality support covers (per team) eight roundtrip flight tickets, accommodations, hospitality (food, beverages, and snacks), and a practice room for six people during the stay.
“As the Wallachia series grows, we are committed to delivering an even more engaging and dynamic experience for the fans,” PGL CEO Silviu Stroie said in a release. “We are grateful for the incredible support and enthusiasm from the community, and we look forward to raising the bar even higher in 2025.”
Finally, PGL also said that it plans on hosting three additional events in 2026, each with a prize pool of $1M, Those events will take place on the following dates:
- March 6-15, 2026
- April 17-26, 2026
- Nov. 6-15, 2026
