Pune, India-based game developer SuperGaming announced that its new mobile battle royale game Indus has been downloaded more than 1M times on Android and iOS devices on its launch day.  This milestone follows 14M pre-registrations leading up to the launch, according to SuperGaming.

“We are incredibly humbled by the response from our community. Reaching 1 million downloads on launch day and topping the iOS and Google Play charts is a major milestone for us, but we know this is just the beginning,” said Roby John, CEO and co-founder of SuperGaming. “As we continue to grow, we’re committed to making Indus even better with every update, built hand-in-hand with our community. We recognize there are areas where we can improve, and we’re dedicated to enhancing the game to meet our players’ expectations every step of the way. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to delivering an even better experience.”

SuperGaming previously laid out a roadmap to support India’s esports community in 2024,  kicking off with the Indus International Tournament, featuring a prize pool of  INR 2.5 crores ($297K USD) and the top Indian and international team compete across four tournament phases. That tournament will be followed by the Indus International Mahasangram in October 2025.

SuperGaming hopes that Indus can steal some of the market share from other super popular battle royal games such as PUBG Mobile and Free Fire, which have huge installed userbases in the country and the world. These and other games developed outside of India have had their fair share of challenges, with both titles being banned multiple times by the government due to their alleged ties to China.

More information about the game can be found at the official Indus website.
