Esports data platform GRID Esports announced an expanded partnership Thursday with international tournament organizer BLAST.
Financial terms of the new partnership were not disclosed, but it is described as a “multi-year deal.”
Through this new “exclusive data partnership” that officially kicks off in November, GRID and BLAST aim to enhance Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 esports tournament data in the BLAST ecosystem and make it available on the GRID Data Platform. BLAST and GRID will also jointly develop data-driven products and work on implementing “integrity solutions powered by advanced data technologies,” according to the announcement.
As part of the deal, BLAST Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 tournament data will be available exclusively on the GRID Data Platform. The data will be made available to “all of BLAST’s partners alongside GRID’s data monetization services,” according to a release. The deal is a bit of an expansion on GRID and BLAST’s existing relationship: GRID already provides BLAST Dota 2 tournament data to its partners, but now it can include Counter-Strike 2 related data from the tournament operator.
“Building successful and long-term partnerships in esports is a huge area of focus for BLAST,” said BLAST SVP of Commercial Revenue Alexander Lewin. “GRID had already been an excellent partner during BLAST’s early days and with this deal will once more become an important component of our ability to leverage data when creating and delivering world-leading esports ecosystems.”
In case you are not familiar with the company, GRID describes itself as “the official data platform for League of Legends, VALORANT, Rainbow Six Siege, and PUBG — and a trusted data partner within the CS2 and Dota 2 esports ecosystems. It provides in-game telemetry data sourcing (GRID Game SDK), analytics, integrity, and distribution in competitive game titles for AAA publishers and independent game studios.”
