World Technology Games (WTG) and the Global Esports Federation (GEF) announced Thursday a partnership that will see the organizations work together to create a five-day long event in Q3 2026.
Financial terms of this new partnership were not disclosed.
The goal of this partnership is to add competitive gaming to its “global celebration of human ingenuity” events. The annual five-day event will include “competitions, a festival and a leadership summit” celebrating and elevating “advancements across Life, Earth, Data, and Industrial Sciences, through unifying themes like sustainability and AI,” according to a release.
The WTG promises competitions that bring together scientists, engineers, and more for two categories of competitions organized in partnership with established leagues, including support from the Indy Autonomous Challenge and the Global Esports Federation.
The host city selection is underway, according to the announcement, with cities encouraged to submit interest through September 2024.
Interestingly enough, GEF CEO Paul J. Foster is also the chairman of the board for the World Technology Games.
Details on the framework of WTG’s competitions and events can be found on its official website.
