The Saudi Esports Federation announced this week that Riyadh—the capital city of Saudi Arabia—will be hosting the GCC Esports League 2024 Finals, set to take place June 27 – 28, per to a report in Pan-Arab newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat.
The competition will feature Rocket League and TEKKEN 8, and a total prize pool of $150K USD.
The league recently hosted an online group stage in May, where 12 teams from throughout the Middle East slugged it out to determine the finalists. Teams from such countries as Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates participated in the competition.
Some of the finalists taking part in the Riyadh event include Oman’s National Team, the Bahrain National Team, Kuwait-based Unity Esports and Xenon Esports, and Saudi Arabian esports organizations Twisted Minds and Team Falcons.
Saudi Esports Federation Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan (HRH Prince Faisal) said in a release that hosting this event is part of the Kingdom’s dedication to developing the esports sector.
