The Esports Awards announced Thursday the finalists for this year’s 2024 Esports Awards ceremony being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Aug. 24. The 2024 Esports Awards is being sponsored by the Esports World Cup and Oakley.
The Esports Awards announced its partnership with the Saudi Arabian government-funded Esports World Cup last month to some pushback from the community (TEA shared its views on this topic publicly in this social media post).
The finalists were announced on Thursday during an Esports Awards broadcast hosted by former LEC caster Trevor “Quickshot” Henry and esports host and interviewer Jasmine “Veracity” Kanuga.
The Esports Awards noted that a second event will be held in London at the end of this year. Curiously, no journalism category was revealed, but it could be that this part of the awards will take place in London, due to the amount of negative feedback The Esports Awards received from journalists in July after its partnership announcement with the Esports World Cup.
The full lineup of categories and finalists for the Esports Awards Riyadh are:
Streamer of the Year
Esports Personality of the Year
Esports Content Group of the Year
Esports Game of the Year
Mobile Esports Game of the Year
Esports Publisher of the Year
Esports Commercial Partner of the Year
Creative Team of the Year
Esports Content of the Year
Esports Breakthrough Player of the Year
